Assessments, or Preadmission Screening and Resident Review, is the process of screening and determining whether nursing facility (NF) services and specialized mental health care are needed by nursing facility applicants. The PASRR program is a required component of each State’s Medicaid plan.
It is difficult to determine the problems that alcohol and or drug use is causing in a person’s life and family. Assessment completed by a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor can help sort issues to recommend appropriate services.
All clients will receive a thorough bio-psychosocial assessment utilizing standardized assessments tools including the Kansas Client Placement Criteria screening instrument and the Substance Abuse Scale Screening Instrument III (SASSI III), motivational interview. When available, counselors will use information provided by the family, care-givers, and other key persons having a relationship with the client when completing intakes.
All of our treatment programs use a therapeutic combination of proven treatment approaches including 12-Step Recovery, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Readiness for Change.
Applicants suspected of having a mental illness (who rated "positive" in the Level I screen) undergo a more extensive preadmission review called Level II screening. Level II screening requires an independent evaluation of applicants' physical and mental health status.
